We are so excited for you to get to experience one of our favorite places in the world! Akumal is a small town in between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. This charming destination is famous for its sea turtles, and you will also find plenty of restaurants and activities all within walking (or golf cart) distance.

La Buena Vida | Casual beach bar with great margaritas; our favorite place in Akumal!
La Lunita | Elevated dining experience on the beach with great food; great dinner spot.
Lol Hal | Restaurant located on Akumal Beach; perfect for a beach day or a nice dinner.
Turtle Bay Bakery and Cafe | Great spot for breakfast!
Activities
Snorkeling in the Yal-Ku Lagoon | This lagoon is a fun spot to swim and snorkel! You can book a tour or go the locals-only way to get to the lagoon (contact Vickie at 713-560-6533 for directions)
Catamaran Tour | One of Emma’s favorite experiences in Akumal. Enjoy a day trip on a catamaran to a private lagoon. Includes drinks and fresh ceviche! More info HERE.
Jungle Fish Beach Club | While you have to drive to get there, this is a great place to enjoy a pool or beach day!

Flight
There are two airports near Akumal – Cancun International Airport & the new Tulum International Airport.
Houston
You can fly directly from George Bush Intercontinental Airport on United Airlines, Southwest, Spirit, and Frontier.
Dallas
You can fly directly from DFW on American Airlines, Spirit, and Frontier.
San Antonio
There are no direct flights out of San Antonio, however, there are flights with quick connections. You can book through United, American Airlines, Delta, and Southwest.
Transportation
Akumal is located about an hour and a half from the Cancun Airport, and about an hour from the Tulum Airport.
Rental Car
If you wish to explore during your trip, renting a car is a great option. You can book in advance through all major rental car companies and pick up at the airport.
Passenger Van Pickup
Another option for transport is to rent a passenger van to take you to and from the airport. We recommend using Namaste Transportation & Tours.
Golf Cart Rental
A fun option to get around Akumal is by renting a golf cart! We typically rent through Hotel Akumal Caribe.
lodging recommendations
All of the wedding festivities will be held in Half Moon Bay, Akumal. The area is incredibly walkable, so we recommend finding accommodations close by. There are numerous options including large villas and quaint, beachfront condos, depending on your group size.
